Route and stops

Route 37 follows the western shore of the bay and heads inland through Toa Baja before reaching Bayamón. This is the official ATI itinerary in the Cataño → Bayamón direction:

  • ATM Ferry Terminal — connection with the Cataño ferry
  • Ave. Las Nereidas
  • Old Cataño Terminal
  • Boulevard Las Palmas (Carr. 165)
  • Boulevard Levittown
  • Ave. del Lago
  • Calle Dr. Diego Álvarez Chanca
  • Ave. Sabana Seca
  • Toa Baja Público Car Terminal
  • Ave. Comerío
  • Bayamón Station — western terminus of the Tren Urbano

Itinerary as published by ATI. Check the official route map or the Transit app for real-time detail.

Schedule and frequency

Route 37 runs Monday to Saturday and on public holidays, with the same times in both directions:

Days First trip Last trip Frequency
Monday to Friday 5:00 a.m. 8:50 p.m. every 50 min
Saturdays 5:30 a.m. 8:00 p.m. every 50 min
Holidays 5:30 a.m. 8:00 p.m. every 70 min
⚠️ Route 37 does not run on Sundays, and neither does route 4, the other bus serving the Ferry Terminal. Since the ferry does operate on Sundays, on that day you can cross the bay but cannot continue by bus from Cataño.

AMA schedules may change and are not always met exactly. Check the actual arrival time in the official Transit app before you set off.

Fare

Right now the bus is free because fare collection is suspended. When ATI reinstates fares, the price of Route 37 will be:

General fare
$0.75
Student
$0.60
Half fare
$0.35

Payment will be made on boarding, with exact change or with the travel card sold at Tren Urbano stations. The card allows free transfers between train and bus within a 2-hour window.

Tren Urbano connection

Route 37 ends at Bayamón Station, the western terminus of the Tren Urbano:

  • 🚆Bayamón StationRoutes 2, 20, 91 and 92 also stop there. Free parking with 480 spaces
  • 🚢ATM Ferry TerminalThe other end, with the ferry to Old San Juan and route 4 towards Piñero

From Bayamón the train reaches Sagrado Corazón, the other terminus, in about 29 minutes, stopping at Centro Médico, Río Piedras and Hato Rey among others.

Connection with the Cataño ferry

The northern end of Route 37 is the ATM Ferry Terminal, from where the Cataño ferry crosses the bay to Old San Juan in about 12 minutes.

⚠️ The ferry is NOT free. The current free-travel period only covers AMA buses and the Tren Urbano. The ferry is run by HMS Ferries under fares set by the Government of Puerto Rico. Since 1 January 2026, by order of PRITA, the general fare has risen to $2.00 per trip. Children aged 0-2 travel free, and reduced fares exist for seniors and passengers with disabilities. Check the exact age bands and prices at puertoricoferry.com before travelling: the official site does not always reflect fare updates immediately.

Two AMA routes leave the Ferry Terminal for different destinations, and it is worth not mixing them up:

Route Destination Connecting station Frequency (Mon-Fri)
37 (this one) Bayamón via Levittown Bayamón 50 min
4 Piñero via Roosevelt Piñero 30 min

Put simply: if your destination is in Bayamón or Toa Baja, take route 37; if you are heading for Hato Rey, Plaza Las Américas or Río Piedras, take route 4, which also comes more often.
