  • Piñero Station — Urban Train connection

In the opposite direction, from Piñero to Cataño, the route runs in reverse, leaving via the Muñoz Rivera exclusive lane.

Connecting with the Cataño ferry

The western end of Route 4 is the ATM Ferry Terminal, where the Cataño ferry departs to cross the bay to Old San Juan in about 12 minutes. It is a handy combination for reaching the old town by sea.

⚠️ The ferry is NOT free. The current free-travel period only covers AMA buses and the Urban Train. The ferry is operated by HMS Ferries under fares set by the Government of Puerto Rico. Since 1 January 2026, by order of PRITA, the general fare has risen to $2.00 per trip. Children aged 0-2 travel free, and reduced fares exist for seniors and passengers with disabilities. Check the exact age bands and prices at puertoricoferry.com before travelling: the official site does not always reflect fare updates immediately.

Cataño–San Juan ferry times: Monday to Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. from Cataño; Saturdays and Sundays, 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Unlike the bus, the ferry does run on Sundays.
