Do you want information about the different rates and cost of the Puerto Rico Urban Train?
Throughout the page we will show you relevant data about each type of fare, as well as where and how you can get the ticket or card to access the urban train, and the requirements to obtain some special fares.
🎫The Urban Train is free right now
Since 1 March 2024, the Urban Train and the public bus network have been free of charge. You do not need to pay a fare or buy a ticket to travel.
The Integrated Transit Authority (ATI) is working to reinstate fare collection, but no official start date has been announced. In April 2026 its executive director, Josué Menéndez Agosto, said collection would resume “on or before 31 August”; the agency has not confirmed that date since, and collection has already been postponed several times before.
Staff training on the new equipment began in July 2026; a public education campaign will follow, and only then will the official announcement come.
The fares listed on this page are the ones that will apply again once collection resumes. ATI has confirmed there will be no price increases and that a fare cap will apply: according to its director, once you spend $3.00 in a single day the rest of that day is free, and once you spend $12.00 in a week (Monday to Sunday) the rest of that week is free too.

Next, it will ask you if you want to use the «Quick Sale» or «Card / More options».
If we select «Quick Sale», also called «Fast Sale», we will buy a round-trip ticket, or in other words, a ticket to go to a station and then be able to return.

Once you have made the payment, you can acquire your ticket or card.
An important detail is that buying with a $20.00 bill you have to make a minimum purchase of $7.50, since the machine will not give you change in coins greater than $12.5.
