P'ATI Card | Puerto Rico Urban Train Payment Guide

The P’ATI card is the official payment card for Puerto Rico’s Urban Train and AMA buses, operated by the Integrated Transit Authority (ATI).

It replaced the old token system in 2026 and gives you integrated access to the Urban Train, AMA buses, MetroBus, Tu Conexión, and Metro Urbano with a single tap.

What is the P'ATI card?

The P’ATI is a rechargeable NFC transit card that works as an integrated pass for all public transit in the San Juan metro area. You can get it for free at any ticket machine in the 16 Urban Train stations, or at the Customer Service Centers at Deportivo and Sagrado Corazón stations.

A single tap at the turnstile deducts your fare automatically. When you transfer to an AMA bus within 2 hours of boarding the train, the bus ride is free.

How to use the P'ATI card step by step

  1. Get your card: go to any ticket machine at any of the 16 stations. Select «Card / More options» → «Get new card». Minimum initial load is $5.
  2. Register your card (recommended) on the Umo app or at ati.pr.gov to protect your balance if lost.
  3. Board the train: tap your card on the turnstile reader until you hear a beep. $1.50 is deducted automatically.
  4. Transfer to a bus: tap your card on the bus reader within 2 hours of your first tap — the bus ride is free.
  5. Check your balance on the Umo app, at any ticket machine, or on the balance readers at stations.
