Route and stops

Route 10 is a four-point express service: it leaves the station, joins the expressway and reaches Old San Juan with no stops along the way. This is ATI’s official route in the San Juan → Sagrado Corazón direction:

  • San Juan Covadonga Terminal
  • Train exclusive lane
  • Luis Muñoz Rivera Expressway (PR-#1)
  • Sagrado Corazón Station — Urban Train connection

In the opposite direction, from Sagrado Corazón to San Juan, the route runs exactly in reverse, with identical times and frequency.

Route based on ATI’s official itinerary. Check the official route map or the Transit app for real-time detail.

Schedule and frequency

Here is what makes this route unusual: it is the most frequent in the network, but also one of the most limited in operating days.

Days First trip Last trip Frequency
Monday to Friday 6:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. every 15 min
Saturdays No service
Sundays No service
Holidays No service

Times are identical in both directions: from Covadonga and from Sagrado Corazón alike, the first trip leaves at 6:00 a.m. and the last at 7:00 p.m.

⚠️ Route 10 runs on weekdays only, and finishes at 7:00 p.m. To reach Old San Juan outside those hours — evenings, weekends or public holidays — the alternative is route 3, which makes the same connection every day until 11:00 p.m., though more slowly because it does not use the expressway.

AMA schedules can change and are not always kept exactly. Check the real arrival time in the official Transit app before leaving.

Fare

Right now travel is free because fare collection is suspended. When ATI restores fares, the price of Route 10 will be:

General fare
$0.75
Student
$0.60
Half fare
$0.35

Payment will be made when boarding, with exact change or with the travel card sold at Urban Train stations. The card allows free transfers between train and bus within a 2-hour window.

Urban Train connection

Route 10 starts at Sagrado Corazón, the train’s terminal station on the San Juan side. It is the fastest continuation of the train towards the old town, which the Urban Train does not reach:

  • 🚆Connection at Sagrado CorazónGet off the train and take Route 10 straight to Old San Juan
  • 🎫Free transferTrain ⇄ bus within 2 hours with the travel card

Routes 1, 2, 3, 15, 21, 22, 35, 36 and 45 also stop at Sagrado Corazón. Of all of them, Route 10 and route 3 are the ones serving the Covadonga Terminal.

Route 10 and Old San Juan

The Urban Train does not reach Old San Juan: its closest station is Sagrado Corazón. Route 10 covers that stretch along the Luis Muñoz Rivera Expressway, avoiding the urban traffic of Avenida Ponce de León.

It drops you at the San Juan Covadonga Terminal, right by the historic quarter: from there you can walk to Calle del Cristo, Plaza de Armas, Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal.

⚠️ Mind the journey back: the last Route 10 trip leaves at 7:00 p.m. If you are spending the afternoon in the old town, you will most likely have to return on route 3, whose last trip from Covadonga leaves at 10:55 p.m.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Route 10 cost right now?
Nothing. Fare collection on AMA buses and the Urban Train has been suspended since March 2024, so riding Route 10 is free. When collection resumes, the general fare will be $0.75.
Which days does Route 10 run?
Weekdays only, from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is no service on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays. It has one of the most restricted calendars in the network.
How often does Route 10 run?
Every 15 minutes, the highest frequency in the whole AMA network. That said, only Monday to Friday and within its 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. window.
Route 10 or route 3 to reach Old San Juan?
If you are travelling on a weekday before 7:00 p.m., Route 10 is better: it uses the expressway, makes no intermediate stops and comes every 15 minutes. Outside those hours, route 3 is the only option: it runs every day until 11:00 p.m., though it takes longer because it goes along Avenida Ponce de León.
Does Route 10 make intermediate stops?
No. It is an express service between Sagrado Corazón Station and the San Juan Covadonga Terminal, running along the Luis Muñoz Rivera Expressway (PR-1). If you need to stop in Santurce or along Avenida Ponce de León, route 3 is the one serving that stretch.
