Route 15 AMA: Cupey Station – Sagrado Corazón

Route and stops

Route 15 has one of the most winding itineraries in the network: it goes into the streets of Río Piedras rather than following the main avenues. This is ATI’s official route in the Cupey → Sagrado Corazón direction:

  • Cupey Station — Urban Train connection
  • Carr. #1
  • 65 de Infantería
  • Ave. Barbosa
  • Calle De Diego
  • Carr. 181
  • Calle López Sicardo
  • Calle Flanders
  • Calle Urdiales
  • Ave. Barbosa
  • Calle Quisqueya
  • Calle Boliva
  • Ave. Muñoz Rivera exclusive lane
  • Sagrado Corazón Station — Urban Train connection

In the opposite direction, from Sagrado Corazón to Cupey, the itinerary varies slightly: it enters via the Ponce de León exclusive lane and passes along Calle Sicilia and Calle Riaza instead of López Sicardo and Boliva.

Route based on ATI’s official itinerary. Check the official route map or the Transit app for real-time detail.

Schedule and frequency

Route 15 runs Monday to Saturday and public holidays. These are ATI’s official times:

Direction Days First trip Last trip
Cupey → Sagrado Corazón Monday to Friday 5:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m.
Cupey → Sagrado Corazón Saturdays 6:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m.
Cupey → Sagrado Corazón Holidays 5:30 a.m. 8:20 p.m.
Sagrado Corazón → Cupey Monday to Friday 5:00 a.m. 9:00 p.m.
Sagrado Corazón → Cupey Sat and holidays 6:00 a.m. / 5:30 a.m. 8:00 p.m.
⚠️ The frequency is 60 minutes on every operating day. That is one bus per hour, so check the real timetable before setting out and do not count on it when you are in a hurry. If your destination is Sagrado Corazón and you do not need a stop in the neighbourhoods along the way, the Urban Train links Cupey and Sagrado Corazón far faster and far more often.

AMA schedules can change and are not always kept exactly. Check the real arrival time in the official Transit app before leaving.

Fare

Right now travel is free because fare collection is suspended. When ATI restores fares, the price of Route 15 will be:

General fare
$0.75
Student
$0.60
Half fare
$0.35

Payment will be made when boarding, with exact change or with the travel card sold at Urban Train stations. The card allows free transfers between train and bus within a 2-hour window.

Urban Train connection

Route 15 starts and ends at a train station, so it links with the Urban Train at both ends:

  • 🚆Cupey StationRoutes 7, 9, 17, 18, 31 and Metro Urbano route 30 also stop there
  • 🚆Sagrado CorazónThe station with the most bus connections in the whole network

Its real value is not in linking the two stations — the train does that better — but in serving the neighbourhoods in between, in Río Piedras and Santurce, which sit some distance from any Urban Train stop.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Route 15 cost right now?
Nothing. Fare collection on AMA buses and the Urban Train has been suspended since March 2024, so riding Route 15 is free. When collection resumes, the general fare will be $0.75.
Which days does Route 15 run?
Monday to Saturday and public holidays. There is no service on Sundays. On weekdays it runs from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from Cupey, and until 9:00 p.m. in the opposite direction.
How often does Route 15 run?
Every 60 minutes, on every day it operates. It is one of the lowest frequencies in the network, so it is worth checking the real arrival time in the official Transit app before leaving.
Route 15 or the Urban Train between Cupey and Sagrado Corazón?
The train, unless you need an intermediate stop. The Urban Train links both stations directly, runs every day until 11:30 p.m. and comes every 8-12 minutes, against 60 for the bus. Route 15 makes sense if you are travelling to or from the Río Piedras neighbourhoods it passes through.
