Route and stops

Route 17 traces an arc across the southern metropolitan area, calling at three train stations along the way. This is ATI’s official route in the Cupey → Piñero direction:

  • Cupey Station — Urban Train connection
  • P.R. #21
  • Centro Médico Station — Urban Train connection
  • Calle 9
  • Ave. San Patricio
  • Ave. Jesús T. Piñero
  • Ave. Andalucía
  • Ave. Roosevelt
  • Las Américas Expressway
  • Ave. Domenech
  • Ponce de León exclusive lane
  • Piñero Station — Urban Train connection

In the opposite direction, from Piñero to Cupey, the route runs in reverse, leaving via the Ave. Muñoz Rivera exclusive lane.

Route based on ATI’s official itinerary. Check the official route map or the Transit app for real-time detail.

Schedule and frequency

Route 17 runs Monday to Saturday and public holidays. These are ATI’s official times:

Direction Days First trip Last trip
Cupey → Piñero Monday to Friday 5:00 a.m. 8:08 p.m.
Cupey → Piñero Saturdays 6:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m.
Cupey → Piñero Holidays 5:30 a.m. 8:10 p.m.
Piñero → Cupey Monday to Friday 5:00 a.m. 8:05 p.m.
Piñero → Cupey Sat and holidays 6:00 a.m. / 5:30 a.m. 8:00 p.m.

Frequency: between 60 and 75 minutes Monday to Friday, 55 minutes on Saturdays and 60 minutes on public holidays.

⚠️ The frequency is low: between one hour and an hour and a quarter on weekdays. If your journey is only between two train stations, the Urban Train links them directly and far more often. Route 17 comes into its own when you need a stop at San Patricio, Ave. Roosevelt or Ave. Andalucía, where the train does not reach.

AMA schedules can change and are not always kept exactly. Check the real arrival time in the official Transit app before leaving.

Fare

Right now travel is free because fare collection is suspended. When ATI restores fares, the price of Route 17 will be:

General fare
$0.75
Student
$0.60
Half fare
$0.35

Payment will be made when boarding, with exact change or with the travel card sold at Urban Train stations. The card allows free transfers between train and bus within a 2-hour window.

Urban Train connection

No other AMA route calls at as many train stations. Route 17 links with the Urban Train at three points:

  • 🚆Cupey StationRoutes 7, 9, 15, 18, 31 and Metro Urbano route 30 also stop there. Free parking, 297 spaces
  • 🏥Centro Médico StationAccess to the hospital complex. Route 19 also stops there
  • 🚆Piñero StationRoutes 4, 8, 26, 40 and 41 also stop there

That triple connection makes it useful for reaching the train from anywhere along its route, especially if you are coming from areas such as San Patricio or Avenida Andalucía, which have no station nearby.
