Tren Urbano connection

Route 19 is one of the few that starts and ends at a train station. You can board at either end:

  • 🚆Martínez Nadal StationRoutes 8 and 27 also stop there. It has the largest car park in the network: 1,007 free spaces
  • 🚆Centro Médico StationThe other route serving this station is 17, coming from Cupey

Bear in mind that the train also links both stations, and does so far more quickly and frequently. Route 19 makes sense mainly if your origin or destination is in San Patricio, Avenida Roosevelt or the intermediate streets the train does not cover.

Getting to Centro Médico

The Centro Médico complex in Río Piedras is the largest hospital campus in Puerto Rico and brings together several institutions on one site:

  • Adult University Hospital
  • Cardiovascular Center of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean
  • Veterans Hospital (VA Caribbean Healthcare System)
  • UPR Medical Sciences Campus

There are two public transport options to get there: the Tren Urbano to Centro Médico Station, which is the fastest and most frequent way, or this Route 19 from Martínez Nadal if you are coming from the Guaynabo and San Patricio area. Route 17 is the third alternative, arriving from Cupey.

⚠️ For a medical appointment, the train is the safe option. The Tren Urbano runs every day until 11:30 p.m. and at much higher frequencies. Route 19 comes once an hour and does not run on Sundays.
