Route 41 AMA: Piñero Station – Iturregui

Route 41 connects Piñero Station on the Tren Urbano with the Iturregui terminal, in eastern San Juan. It is the route that links Iturregui to the train, and therefore the piece that makes it possible to reach the network by public transport from Carolina and the Campo Rico corridor.

Schedule and frequency

Route 41 runs Monday to Saturday and on public holidays, with the same times in both directions:

Days First trip Last trip Frequency
Monday to Friday 5:00 a.m. 9:00 p.m. every 30 min
Saturdays 5:30 a.m. 8:00 p.m. every 30 min
Holidays 5:30 a.m. 8:00 p.m. every 50 min

On weekdays it runs until 9:00 p.m., one of the widest operating windows among the routes that connect with the train.

⚠️ Route 41 does not run on Sundays, and neither do routes 6, 43, 44 or 7. In practice, on Sundays there is no AMA bus at all connecting eastern San Juan or Carolina with the Tren Urbano: that day you will need a car, a taxi or a ride-hailing app.

AMA schedules may change and are not always met exactly. Check the actual arrival time in the official Transit app before you set off.

Fare

Right now travel is free because fare collection is suspended. When ATI reinstates fares, the price of Route 41 will be:

General fare
$0.75
Student
$0.60
Half fare
$0.35

Payment will be made on boarding, with exact change or with the travel card sold at Tren Urbano stations. The card allows free transfers between train and bus within a 2-hour window.

Tren Urbano connection

Route 41 ends at Piñero Station, and that is precisely its role within the network: it is the only route running from the Iturregui terminal to a train station.

  • 🚆Piñero StationRoutes 4, 8, 17, 26 and 40 (airport express) also stop there
  • 🔁Transfer at IturreguiConnects with routes 5 (to the airport and Old San Juan), 6 (to Carolina) and 43 (to Ave. Monserrate)

In practice this makes Route 41 the piece that closes the eastern corridor: anyone coming from Carolina on route 6, or from the Pontezuela area on route 43, changes at Iturregui and reaches the train on this bus. From Piñero, the Tren Urbano runs on to Hato Rey, Sagrado Corazón, Centro Médico and Bayamón.

If you are coming from the town of Carolina and would rather avoid the transfer, route 7 runs straight to Cupey Station on a single bus.
